Hi cpkilekofp; I removed the Insert command button and put in an event for Command to see if the Update button press in the grid View control would trigger the Command event - it did not. My markup and code look as follows and the Update event is not firing: Hi cpkilekofp; I removed the On Row Updating from the Grid View definition - to no avail. David I added a stub for the grid View Row Command event and set a breakpoint. Placed breakpoints at Row Command, Row Editing and Row Updating. Much thanks to cpkilekofp and informaniac for their time and effort in trying to debug this problem for me.I have a break on the Sub statement for the Row Updating handler ... The Edit and Cancel buttons fire the Row Command event, however, the Update button does not. No breakpoint was triggered when I hit the Update button. I truly appreciate all the suggestions you've given. To cancel the update operation, set the collections, if necessary, before the values are passed to the data source.A common way to use these collections is to HTML-encode the values supplied by the user before they are stored in the data source. Close() End If End Sub Private Shared Sub On Row Updated( _ sender As Object, args As Sql Row Updated Event Args) If args. Fill(data Set, "This Table") Private Shared Sub Fill Error(sender As Object, _ args As Fill Error Event Args) If args. Take a look at the page load if you are binding on post back then the values get updated before you are able to access them. It's a bit different of a set up, as all the controls are in a single column (maybe this is causing the problems? I do not receive any runtime errors, so it must be logic. ASP The order in which your events are firing might be the problem.
Row Updated, New Sql Row Updated Event Handler( Address Of On Row Updated) ' Set Data Adapter command properties, fill Data Set, and modify Data Set. Update(cust DS, "Customers") ' Remove handlers. Row Updated, _ New Sql Row Updated Event Handler(Address Of On Row Updated) Private Shared Sub On Row Updating(sender As Object, _ args As Sql Row Updating Event Args) If args.
However, now I have the problem that no values are being passed to the On Row Updating method. I took out the On Row Updating event from the Grid and now when I hit on Update it doesn't give the error that I should get: Something to the nature of: The Grid View fired event Row Updating which wasn't handled.
before that i want just using Find control and casting and then retrieving all lot code. If values are same they could notify user to change the value(give new cell value).
Greetings; I have read several of the previous help questions on when the grid View Row Updating event doesn't fire. LOL Each time through the code behind I was loading and binding my product table.
I am confused at this point on why my markup and code behind is not touching the Row Updating event when Update button is clicked. So, the Row Update event didn't fire because there was no indication of a Row Update existing.
